VIDEO SERVICING ASSETS: SPECIFICATIONS & SUPPORT INFORMATION

This is a public page that provides technical specifications and support information for Video Servicing Asset submissions to UMG Video Services.

A Video Servicing Asset is a finished asset which is to be ingested into UMG Supply Chain systems and delivered on to commercial partners such as Apple and Vevo/YouTube.

VIDEO SERVICING ASSET SPECIFICATIONS

SUMMARY OF SPECIFICATIONS

YOU MUST DELIVER TO UMG VIDEO SERVICING ASSET SPECIFICATIONS

FAILURE TO MEET THESE SPECIFICATIONS WILL RESULT IN ASSET REJECTION AND ADD SIGNIFICANT DELAYS, WHICH MAY CAUSE MISSED DEADLINES AND ADDITIONAL CHARGES

Accepted Video Codecs

  • Apple ProRes 422 HQ

  • Apple ProRes 4444
  • Apple ProRes 4444 XQ

    • Please note that conversion from non-accepted video codecs such as H.264, ProRes 422 (non-HQ), LT or Proxy to an accepted video codec is unacceptable.

    • Please note that videos delivered as ProRes must be within a QuickTime .mov container.

No Black and Silence at Beginning or End of Video

  • All videos submitted to UMG shall be formatted with a “P2P” assembly (Program Start to Program End).

  • Program Start is defined as the first frame of active video or audio, and Program End as last frame of active video or audio.

  • Leading or trailing black (video at or below 0 IRE) and silence (audio below -90 dB) will result in a QC failure.

  • For gradual video intro/outro transitions like fades and wipes, one frame of black and silence for the transition to come to completion is permitted.

Accepted Video Specifications

  • All videos must be uploaded with one of the accepted Frame Sizes listed below. For more info on how to preserve artistic intent while still conforming to these specs, see the Frame Size section in our QC Terminology Guide.

    • If a video is shot or mastered in a resolution that does not match an accepted frame size, the best course of action is to upscale your final edit to the nearest supported frame size.

    • If you would like your matted video delivery to appear without mattes on YouTube, the label should make sure to set “Crop to Active Picture?” to “Yes” when creating the job in Video Submissions Portal.

  • Pillarboxing is not accepted for 4K (4096x2160) or 2K (2048x1080) resolutions.
